The Rydal Penrhos Endowment Fund is made up of the following individual funds:
Donald Hughes Memorial Fund
The fund was established in 1970 with the object of continuing particular benevolent work undertaken anonymously by Donald Hughes when he was Headmaster. This work concentrated on enabling pupils to finish their education at Rydal Penrhos when there had been an adverse change in parental circumstances whether through bereavement, business failure, or any other cause.
The Percy Heywood Bequest
Money came from the Estate of Percy Heywood to establish a fund that could be used to further the aspects of the School life so loved by Percy when he was a Director of Music namely School Music and School Games.
W. Stephen Jones Memorial Fund
This Fund was set up in 1982 with the purpose of supporting the artistic and athletic interests followed by Stephen Jones during his life. Grants could be made from the fund which would enable members of the School to pursue such interests.
The Ehrenberg-Elton Scholarship
This fund was established in 1995 following the death of Sir Geoffrey Elton in order to assist Eastern European students. The fund helps to pay for the general and travel expenses for such students who come to Rydal Penrhos in the Lower Sixth under the HMC Scheme but wish to stay for a second year and take ‘A’ levels.
Donations towards any of these funds are very welcome and will assist us in continuing to support Rydal Penrhos pupils. It is also possible for donors to set up a new fund in their name, with a purpose to suit their wishes. Please contact Sarah Ritchie on 01492 539736 if you would like to discuss this further.
