Cricket round-up: Impressive win for U15 side during busy week

U15 vs Calday Grange Grammar School

A wonderful bowling display from Jacob Cousins, Josh Stewart, Ben Davies, Anthony Bowe, Aaron Sherrington and Osca Clark restricted the hosts to 71 off 20 overs.

Hoping to make a game of it, we opened with our less experienced batters in reply and those who hadn’t bowled.

This included Tom Hughes who opened with 28 off his first over, dispersed with a few dots meaning the total was easily passed and a good win for Rydal Penrhos. Well done to all who played.

U13 vs Ellesmere College:

The U13s travelled to Ellesmere this weekend. They came up against a strong opposition who had some talented players.

Rydal Penrhos bowled first and did very well to restrict Ellesmere to 115. There were some strong performances by Tarun Ramesh 2-9-2 including a double wicket madden and Kosi Iwobi 2-3-1 which included his first ever wicket.

The batting performance started well. With Arun Ramesh and Freddie James making a strong first stand against some very good bowlers.

There were more outstanding performances by Tarun scoring 16 and Zac Roberts scoring a determined 16. Rydal Penrhos finished on 80 falling short of the target.

It was a good performance by a team missing some experienced players. A massive thank you and well done to Alys Peake-Jones and Bea Gardener for stepping in to play.

Man of the match was Tarun Ramesh for a fantastic all-round performance.

1st XI vs Ellesmere College:

It was a tough ask for the Rydal Penrhos, who were missing some key squad members due to late unavailability.

Sam Bixby, who was recently part of the Menai Bridge side that won the North Wales T20 Championship, demonstrated his quality with the bat throughout, and captain Owen Reilly also contributed with the ball thanks to a very consistent spell.
